METSTA in brief

METSTA, Mechanical Engineering and Metals Industry Standardization in Finland METSTA is responsible for coordinating the national work in the field of mechanical engineering and metals industry, building automation and energy management standardization, both on the European and international level. METSTA is one of the standards writing bodies of Finnish Standards Association SFS.

METSTA is responsible for over 8755 ISO-standards and for 5633 EN-standards, of which over 60% are directly related to European legislation (machinery, pressure vessel, construction and ATEX directives).

METSTA is also a leading national expert in multiple new and developing standardization subjects, such as robotics and automation, digital twins, additive manufacturing, space and automated seafaring. Additionally, over one third of the standards under METSTA are translated to Finnish.
